Afghan Paiwastoon Community Inaugurates New Office in Toronto

Toronto, April 12, 2025 — The Afghan Paiwastoon Community proudly inaugurated its new office in the Thorncliffe Park area of Toronto on Saturday, marking a significant milestone in its decades-long journey of service to the Afghan community in Canada and abroad.

The ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by the community’s First Vice President, Dr. Mirwais Tariq. The event was gracefully emceed by Second Vice President Aimal Yousafzai, whose heartfelt poetry in Pashto, Dari, and English added a vibrant cultural spirit to the occasion.

In his opening remarks, Community President, Mr. Yar Mohammad Naeemi, warmly welcomed the guests and expressed his deep gratitude to the dedicated and sincere members of the Afghan community who have consistently supported the mission of the Afghan Paiwastoon Community. He emphasized that the Community is a shared home for all Afghans — inclusive, non-discriminatory, and committed to serving compatriots both in Canada and in Afghanistan.

Mr. Naeemi highlighted the Community’s proud legacy as one of Canada’s oldest Afghan organizations, serving the community for nearly three decades. Rooted in a strong commitment to national values and guided by its constitution, the Community has long celebrated Afghan cultural, national, and religious occasions with dignity and unity. He concluded by inviting the community to see the new office as their own home — a space for collaboration, support, and collective progress.

The event was further honoured by the presence of Member of Parliament for Don Valley West, Mr. Rob Oliphant, who commended the Society’s unwavering service and pledged his continued support.

Renowned Afghan writer, poet, and political analyst Esmat Qane spoke passionately about the community’s transparency, integrity, and deep commitment to community service. Other distinguished speakers included Mr. Baher Formoli, former head of the Afghan Union in Canada; Mr. Engineer Hamza Nuristani, founder of a movement/ organization; Mr. Jawad Kakar, a respected cultural figure and public speaker; and university professor Dr. Mohammad Hassan. Each expressed admiration for the Community’s impact and extended heartfelt congratulations on the opening of its new office.

The event concluded with words of appreciation from the board of directors to all attendees, followed by the official ribbon-cutting ceremony in the presence of prominent community leaders.

The Afghan Paiwastoon Community remains steadfast in its mission to foster unity, uphold national values, and serve as a reliable support system for Afghans in Canada and beyond.
